Staff Professionalism
As a staff we are committed to maintaining a high level of professionalism. This is achieved by ensuring all staff receives an adequate amount of professional development. Our staff take part in weekly professional learning team meetings. These meetings are designed to enhance teacher practice through direct discussion about the children we work with. This enables teachers to share ideas and explore new ways of learning and teaching.
We have also placed extra support in classrooms in the areas of Literacy and Mathematics. A support teacher will work with teachers in classrooms to both observe and model teaching practices. Just as importantly, teachers then come together to reflect on what was observed, to discuss the learning benefits for children and how teachers can further “refine” their teaching skills. Support teachers are also are available to take small groups of children to further enhance Literacy and Maths skills.
Teachers plan together in teams. This allows teachers to share ideas, devise appropriate learning experiences and share “best teaching practice.” This planning time allows teachers to develop strong professional bonds with one another.
