Religious EducationAt Lumen Christi, Religious Education is central to the life of the school. The Religious Education guidelines, ‘New Awakenings’, form the core of what we teach. The aim of this program is to enrich and deepen the child’s relationship with God, self, family, Parish and wider community.
In Religious Education the teacher will draw upon the children’s own insights in order to create relevant learning experiences to develop a range of skills, including reflecting, communicating, inquiry and decision making. |
Sacramental Program
The St. Aloysius Sacramental Program is family based, parish coordinated and school supported. The order of receiving the Sacraments is Baptism, Confirmation, Penance and Eucharist. Over the course of the sacramental program year 3 (and above) children and their families are involved in a one year ‘catechumenal’ like journey commencing with enrolment for Confirmation which is celebrated in Term 3 each year. In Lent of the following year these families prepare their children for the sacrament of Penance, with the Sacramental program culminating in the Easter season when the children prepare for and receive their First Eucharist. A second Penance program called ‘Turning Around’ is also offered for those in senior primary who have celebrated Confirmation, Reconciliation and Eucharist. The school strongly supports the Parish program through the teaching of sacramental units of work throughout the year.
