Behaviour Management
DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES
The discipline process must above all, respect the dignity of the child. At Lumen Christi we have a comprehensive and sequential process for disciplining children. This process involves children, staff and parents. Children who experience behaviour difficulties have behaviour plans in place which are compiled with the teacher, child, parent and principal. The purpose of the plan is to correct inappropriate behaviour. Parents will be contacted should inappropriate behaviour continue. It is expected that parents, teachers and the child will work together to keep our school a happy and safe environment.

RESTORATIVE PRACTICES
In many cases, children who break our school rules, or cause harm to others take part in a restorative interview. It is through this interview process that children are able to “work through” difficult situations and arrive at solutions to “make right” harm that has been caused.
Circle time in classrooms is also used to discuss matters of behaviours that need to be addressed. It allows for a whole class to set agreements about appropriate ways to behave.
Anyone who infringes the rights of others will be attended to in a manner consistent with the Student Engagement and Inclusion Policy.

PBIS: S.H.I.N.E
As a school community (staff, students and families) we are currently developing strategies and approaches around positive behaviour. All staff at Lumen Christi are expected to support, model and provide explicit learning opportunities for students around our school wide positive behaviour expectations – S.H.I.N.E. Everyone in the Lumen Christi community is expected to SHINE – be SAFE, HAVE RESPECT, INCLUDE OTHERS, NEVER GIVE UP and display EXCELLENCE.
