About Us
The school’s name – Latin for “the Light of Christ” – underscores the biblical description of Jesus as the light of the world and his challenge to his disciples to be the same. Now, by preparing today’s children to shine in tomorrow’s world, the school continues to take up the original challenge to offer excellence in religious, social, physical, intellectual and psychological education. Modern, well-appointed facilities assist in the provision of an environment that enhances such education.
Flanked by the Ballarat City Council land and the Delacombe Kindergarten to its east and the Doug Dean Reserve to its south, the school has an open feel. The Ballarat City Council plans environmental development of the Doug Dean Reserve in a way which will link to the Environmental Studies of Lumen Christi and neighbouring Delacombe Primary School. Significant tree planting within and beyond the school boundaries has taken place, in partnership with the Ballarat City Council.
Current facilities include 14 classrooms, (including a purpose built Junior Learning Centre & newly refurbished Middle & Senior learning Areas) the administration building, and an Activity Centre. The school has an attractive outdoor environment featuring young trees, garden beds, tables and bench seating, basketball courts, rebound wall, oval, play equipment and an outdoor giant chess garden.
